Kevin was a standout cross country and track runner at Ottumwa High School as well as the class valedictorian and was named the 2011 Iowa Gatorade Male Track Athlete of the Year.  He won the Iowa Class 4A 1600m and 3200m titles in 2011 – the 3200m was a state meet record at the time - as well as the 2010 Class 4A state cross country meet his senior season. At the Drake Relays in 2011, Kevin set an event meet record of 9:05.58 in the 3200m.

At the University of Iowa, the All-American set the Hawkeye school record in the 5000m of 13:43.70 and posted Big Ten Championship performances of fifth in the 5000m in 2015 and sixth in the cross country race.  He also competed in the 2015 NCAA Championships in the 5000m.

Kevin won the 2018 Portland Track Festival 10,000m in a USA Outdoor Track Championships qualifying time of 28:32.  He has also tested out the roads in recent year and has qualified for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials by running 63:55 at the Houston Half Marathon in January 2019.

Kevin joined Minnesota Distance Elite in January 2017.
