Breanna Sieracki, Dhru Patel to Compete at USA 15k Champs in Jacksonville
Minneapolis/St. Paul – March 3, 2020 – Minnesota Distance Elite’s Breanna Sieracki and Dhru Patel will be among the competitors at the USATF 15k Championships in Jacksonville on March 7. The championships are hosted by the 43rd annual Gate River Run.
Featuring an equalizer bonus of $5,000, the elite women will start at 7:54 a.m. and the elite men and the rest of the 15k field of some 15,000 runners will begin at 8:00 a.m. (all times Eastern). The bonus is in addition to the prize purse for the race that starts and finishes at the Fairgrounds near downtown Jacksonville.
The 15k will be a debut in the distance for Sieracki who is the 2019 NACAC Cross Country Champion and has a 10k best of 33:53. Patel, who joined Minnesota Distance Elite in January, has a best of 48:37 in the 10 Mile. Both will be making their first appearance at Gate River.
U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials – Results
The 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon were held in Atlanta on Feb. 29, featuring the largest number of competitors ever assembled for the U.S. Marathon Trials. Of the 243 men who declared for the race out of the qualifiers, 175 finished. In the women’s field, 465 women declared and 390 finished.
Temperatures were in the mid-40s under sunny skies with runners competing in very windy conditions on a hilly course. The top three men and top three women finishers were selected for the U.S. Olympic Team that will compete in Japan this summer.
In their debut marathons, having qualified for the Trials with half marathon times, Kevin Lewis finished 39th in 2:17:36 and Joel Reichow was 56th in 2:20:05. Danny Docherty ran 2:24:07 to finish 88th while Tyler Jermann had an off day and left the course at 21 miles.
On the women’s side, Dakotah Lindwurm took 36th place in a time of 2:39:08 and Meghan Peyton was 158th in 2:46:56. Katy Jermann was unable to run due to an injury and withdrew from the race.
