Heather to Compete at Long Island Mile, 5th Avenue Mile in New York; Katy Is 2nd at USA 20k Champs

Minneapolis/St. Paul – Sept. 3, 2019 – Team USA Minnesota’s Heather Kampf will compete in two one mile races in New York this week including the Hoka One One Long Island Mile on Sept. 4 followed by the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile on Sept. 8.  The Long Island Mile is on the track while the 5th Avenue Mile is run on a 20-block stretch of 5th Avenue in Manhattan.


The elite women’s race at the Long Island Mile will be held at 8:45 p.m. (Eastern) Wednesday at Bay Shore Senior High School.  The 5th Avenue Mile professional women’s mile will be run Sunday at 12:40 p.m.  (Eastern).  NBC will provide live coverage of the 5th Avenue Mile professional women’s and men’s races starting at 12:30 p.m.

Kampf has a best in the mile on the track of 4:27.23 and on the roads, she has run the mile in 4:19.80.  She is a four-time USA 1 Mile Road Champion.


USATF 20k Championships – Results

Katy Jermann finished second in the women’s field at the USATF 20k Championships held in New Haven on Labor Day.  Her time was 1:08:39.  This was her highest finish to date in a USA Championship race, with her previous best place occurring at the USATF Half Marathon Championships in Pittsburgh last May where she finished fifth.  Jermann is now ranked fourth among women in the 2019 USATF Road Running Circuit.

Also finishing in the top 20 at the USATF 20k Championships, held in conjunction with the Faxon Law New Haven Road Race, was Dakotah Lindwurm who was 14th in 1:12:14 and Tyler Jermann, who was 16th in 1:02:09 in the men’s field.
